  • Introduction to Yoga
    with Erika & Timothy Khoo
Yoga seems to be such a buzz word these days. It is offered in community centres, health clubs, country clubs and of course, in the growing numbers of yoga centers sprouting up around the island. What is yoga? Is it good for health? Is it effective for stress-relief?
This series is specially put-together for those who have watched their spouses go for classes, who want to know why people seem to want to get into contorted shapes, who just want to try out a session before deciding if this is a suitable practice for them before heading on to beginner classes or for those who wish to explore the various styles of yoga.

Handouts will be given and class size will be limited to allow time for questions, sharing and discussion. We will be exploring asanas (movement and postures), Meditation and Relaxation, so please eat just a light meal and allow at least 2 hours for the food to digest before the class. Come in comfortable clothes that allow for easy movement, no footwear is required during the practice.

  • Chakra Meditation
    with Erika Khoo

Wherever 2 and more channels of subtle energy meet, there is a vortex, which is named chakra or wheel.

Where major energy flows coincide, on the midline of the body in the front of the spinal column, the seers of India saw 7 main chakras that seemed to mirror both health and the spiritual state.

These seven chakras are like multi-dimensional gateways that would allow the individual to access different experiences and states of consciousness.

In the 8 part Chakra Meditation workshop, we use visualization, sounds, chants, meditation & movement to activate, cleanse and integrate these 7 chakras.

    Chakra 1: Associated with Survival
    Chakra 2: Emotions and Sexuality
Chakra 3: Personal power, Will and Self esteem
    Chakra 4: Love
    Chakra 5: Communication and Creativity
    Chakra 6: Intuition and Imagination
Chakra 7: Knowledge, Understanding & Transcendent Consciousness

  • YogaKids (Ages 3 to 6 years)
    with Evangeline Ng

Having a fun and creative approach to yoga can be very helpful for children whose bodies are still developing. The use of animated poses and basic stretching exercises promote strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. They hiss like snakes in the cobra pose, bark like dogs in the downward facing dog pose and learn to balance on one foot while standing tall like trees.

Learn how to focus, center, relax and develop self-control with various breathing and visualization techniques. Creative visualization and breathing exercises are used for overall balance and concentration, which can be applied toward everyday situations. Children will also learn self-respect and respect for others with the practice of fun postures, group games, breathing and basic anatomy.

So come slither, hop, bounce, or fly right over to yoga class! Just bring your imagination and a bright smile!

  • BodyArt (Ages 7 to 11 years)
    with Loo Lay Hua

Body Art aims to build a strong and study foundation for children, with an emphasis on health, happiness and growth. In a society where we often take our body for granted, only become aware of its existence when sickness occurs.

With current societal habits and culture, we have gradually lost the ability to communicate with the body, unable to receive messages from it. Worse, losing confidence in ourselves and becoming shameful of our body, unhappy with the image we present to the world.

This program offers a series of fun activities such as imagery learning, relaxation exercises, learning with the five senses, creating awareness through movements, as well as yoga for kids. All these carefully planned classes would help children quiet down, listen to their body cultivate happiness and acceptance while providing tools to reduce stress.
